Eye of the Sea

Eye of the Sea

Eye of the Sea presents a view from beneath the surface.

At its core lies a deep, concentrated center, dense and dark, suggesting the immense pressure of underwater depth. From this point, structured radial divisions expand outward like beams of refracted light moving through water.

The surrounding textures resemble organic marine formations, layered and interwoven like coral or scaled surfaces shaped by currents over time.

As the color transitions from the dark center outward, a luminous yellow-green zone emerges, evoking sunlight at the boundary between sea and sky. This warm band is then enveloped by progressively cooler blues, suggesting the atmosphere expanding outward until it deepens into the darker edge of the surrounding sky.

The work creates a dual perception. It can be read as an eye observing from below, or as the sea itself looking back. The symmetry sharpens focus, while the intricate patterning suggests the vast complexity hidden beneath calm surfaces.

This is not a depiction of the ocean as landscape, but as an interior experience, a perspective shaped by immersion, light diffusion, and silent depth.

This print is sold unframed. Unmounted prints are delivered as a loose sheet. Mounted prints include an acid-free backing board and window mat, ready for framing.

Artist Statement

“Interior perspectives have always shaped my work. In this work I imagined the ocean not as horizon but as enclosure. The center represents depth and stillness, while the outward structure suggests light breaking through water. It is both an eye and an environment, a reminder that the sea observes as much as it is observed.”
