The Turning

The Turning

The Turning is a meditation on seasonal change as experienced in Canada, where each season arrives with a full presence and a distinct character.

The composition unfolds through layered petal forms that carry the memory of all four seasons simultaneously, not as a sequence, but as coexistence. Warm oranges and deep browns anchor the work in autumn, the most visually arresting transformation of the Canadian landscape. Around and within them, cooler accents and softer tones suggest the other seasons, present but not insistent.

The result is a composition that does not depict a single moment in time, but the nature of time itself. What turns is not only the calendar, but light, colour, and the quiet awareness that each season carries the trace of all the others.

This print is sold unframed. Unmounted prints are delivered as a loose sheet. Mounted prints include an acid-free backing board and window mat, ready for framing.

Artist Statement

I live close to the seasons. Spring carries me outside and brings the first signs of return. Summer is when I am most present in the garden, most connected to the ground. Autumn stops me. The colour, the light, the intensity of a landscape in transition. It is the season I cannot ignore. Winter is different. Quieter, slower, almost suspended, but still part of the same cycle. This work began with that feeling. Not from a desire to document the seasons, but from the need to hold them together in a single form. Each one present, each one necessary. The Turning is not an event. It is the condition of living in a place where nature does not whisper its changes; it announces them.
